Mary Grace's First Soccer Game

Saturday, April 30th A little pre-game warm up

Mary Grace is on the far left next to her coach (she's #22)
Clearly she was super engaged in the soccer game-

Notice all of the players running to the left. Mary Grace is heading right.

(and yes, they're really a foot taller than her.)

Technically the I am Third soccer program doesn't keep score. Most of the parents on the side lines were counting in their head though. I quit when the red team had passed 10 goals and we had none (it was still the first quarter). Basically, the Blue Jays got killed.

The highlight of the day was when the Chick Fil A cow appeared on the scene. Wildly distracting for 3-5 year old soccer players!

Since there's been so much rain lately, they ended up scheduling a second round of games for the afternoon. We spent the time in between games watching a few of our friends who are on other soccer teams. The girls also had their team pictures made. I'll post the 'official' pictures when they come back, but here's an idea of the Blue Jays.

Before each game the coaches gather the teams together for a short devotional and prayer.

By the second game Mary Grace was warming up to the concept of a soccer game. At least she's running in the direction of the ball! Although, she did look the happiest when she was on the sidelines chatting with her friends. I have a feeling Mary Grace is going to be a strictly social athlete (no skill, just there for the social aspect of a team!)

One of Brent's co-workers (who did play soccer in college) was nice enough to come watch her play. She was excited to have him there! Thanks for coming Mr. Kelly!

Saturday night we had our neighbors up for dinner. Their little boy, Connor, also plays in the league so Brent and BJ set up cones and let the kids practice a bit. After about 5 minutes Mary Grace declared that she 'just wanted to be a cheerleader.'
