We had SUCH a great Halloween this year!
Mary Grace dressed up like a strawberry. 
Our Halloween weekend really started Friday at Dance class. Mary Grace's teacher, Miss Dawn, let all the girls dress up and bring treats for each other.

Mary Grace wasn't very excited about scooping the goop out of the pumpkins this year.
Mary Grace helped Daddy turn her pumpkin into a cat (her request)
All 3 of us are high on ambition and low on ability...but we had fun!
Mary Grace got dressed and came down stairs to see our big bucket of candy for Trick or Treaters. She was pretty convinced that we should skip the whole door to door effort and just let her have all this candy. I think in this picture she is actually saying a tearful goodbye to the nerds!
Our new friends (and neighbors) invited us to come down to their house for a little dinner party pre-trick-or-treating. Lori went ALL out! We were so impressed- it was straight out of a magazine! Mary Grace loved eating the 'mummy dogs' and 'monster brains' and especially enjoyed the bug cupcakes.
Lori also planned a cute craft for the kids.
Connor, Mary Grace and Ethan all set to Trick or Treat. Connor and Mary Grace REALLY got into it. They were racing each other from house to house and it was all we could do to keep up with them!
Brent and I decided we are going to have The Candy Fairy come to our house each year. On Halloween we let Mary Grace eat as much of her candy as she wanted. We stayed up late, ate candy and drank hot chocolate. When she was finished she was allowed to pick out 5 pieces of candy to save and we bagged up the rest. She put her candy outside our front door for the Candy Fairy to take and deliver to other children who didn't get as much candy as she did. And, for her kindness, the Candy Fairy left a toy in place of the candy. 
The entire weekend was wonderful! We especially enjoyed having Nana in town to enjoy it all with us and hand out candy at our house while we took Mary Grace out!

A few days before Halloween we started talking to Mary Grace about it and she seemed to buy into the idea. It was actually really sweet to see her selecting her 5 pieces and hoping that the "other children" would like what she was giving to them. Brent and I were both excited to get the candy out of our house (after we ate our share!) and avoid all the post Halloween battles with Mary Grace!
Mary Grace woke up really excited this morning and wanted to check the front door immediately-

Such a great idea on the candy fairy! Jack didn't really care about the candy this year, but I am using this idea for next year!
