Thankful

Pre-Thanksgiving 2010

I wanted to do a Thanksgiving cooking project with Mary Grace and I found these adorable little turkeys on another blog. We had a lot of fun making (and mostly eating) these guys!

Of course the extras got shipped off to Daddy's office this morning!

All month I have been talking to Mary Grace about being thankful- or as she says, "kankful" (as a side note- I always catch myself wanting to say it her way. I know I should probably correct her and insist that she say it correctly...but it is just so cute the way she says it!) I made circles for us to write things we are thankful for. When Mary Grace thought of something I would write it down for her and she'd get to color the circle and hang it up in our kitchen. My one ground rule (to Brent) was that I didn't want to prompt her or feed her suggestions because I wanted to see what she'd come up with on her own.

In no particular order here are the things she came up with this month:

Don't feel bad if you didn't make the list. As you might notice- no mention of Mommy!

Two more quick memories about this "I am Thankful for..." project:

1. MANY, MANY times I would ask Mary Grace what she was thankful for and she'd give me a very dramatic "NOTHING" or "I'm not thankful for ANYTHING." She's going to be one heck of a teenager...yikes!

2. She also learned way too quickly that the longer she could think of things she was thankful for, the longer she could delay something. For example, I was always amazed at bedtime how many things she could come up with!
